Port Moresby, PNG 27 May 2024 -- The Salesian Vice-Province of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands is happy to release its Salesian Bulletin entitled ’Dreams to Reality.’
The Strenna of our dear Rector Major, Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime SDB, entitled: “The Dream that makes you dream. A heart that transforms ‘wolves’ into ‘lambs’”. The Strenna offers us opportunities to reflect on our educational and evangelizing activities in the light and spirit that inspired and motivated Don Bosco. The articles in this issue are from Salesians and members of the Salesian Family. They are reflections on our work of education and evangelization together with our lay mission partners. We follow the dream of Don Bosco in a Melanesian context that we strive to understand and work in, and despite the struggles, we journey together.
The issue also includes our acknowledgment of the life and ministry of Fr Edwin Genovia SDB, who passed away on the 5th of March 2024.
Congratulations to our dear Rector Major, who has been consecrated Cardinal and entrusted with responsibilities by the Holy Father. We assure you of our prayers and fraternal support.
We look forward, with joy and gladness, to welcoming our Holy Father to our unique land of Papua New Guinea. We are sure that the presence of Pope Francis will invigorate us and all our people with a sense of love and respect for all men and women of this diverse and exotic land.
