Gabutu, Port Moresby, PNG, 28 May 2024 -- The Don Bosco Technical School, Gabutu commemorated the Solemn Feast of Mary Help of Christians, Community Day, Fr. Rector's Birthday, and the Intramurals 2024 on 24 May. It was also the perpetual profession of Cl Pio Ehava.
The events started with a wonderful school mass as students and Salesian Educators put on their new Intramurals uniforms, which added vibrant colours to the school campus. The Mass was celebrated in the school gymnasium, Korongku Hall. The entire school community, parishioners, Cl. Pio's mother, his immediate family, and course mates gathered to participate in prayer, songs, and witness the Perpetual Profession of Cl Pio. “I am grateful to God for all the life experiences”, said Cl Pio as he thanked everyone for their prayers and their support.
The school mass featured reflective melodies that enhanced the atmosphere of contemplation, accompanied by angelic singing from the staff and student body, with support from the youth music group led by Mr. Vincent and Mr. Joe. A spectacular dance was performed by the Marian youth group for the entrance, followed by an offertory procession by the Bougainville Cultural Group and a recessional one by the Manus Cultural Group.
"The Tri-Celebration was truly exceptional, showcasing outstanding organization and a vibrant display of talent and community spirit. The dedication and hard work of both students and staff were evident, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees," described Timothy Wan of Grade 11 Srugi, as he shared his experience, which fostered genuine moments of introspection and realization among participants.
After the solemn celebration of the Solemnity of Mary Help of Christians, the community celebrated Fr. Pedro Sachitula, SDB's 43rd birthday. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support and love over the years. The celebration was a testament to the strength and unity of the community and the enduring legacy of Fr. Pedro's heartfelt service.
The celebration, marked by lively performances, inspiring speeches, and various activities, left everyone in high spirits. The closing remarks and reminders were given by Mr. Peter N'drasal, the Deputy for Student Discipline.
Following the vibrant annual school celebration, students gathered around PCTA Park for a shared meal generously provided by the school, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie, topped off with ice cream.
Mr. Martin then gave final reminders, and Fr. Rector blessed everyone as they were dismissed from the school campus with joyful hearts.
