Anisakan, Myanmar, 11 December 2023 -- On 8 December 2023, as the Vice-Province of Myanmar celebrated the feast day of the Immaculate Conception and the birthday of the Salesian Congregation, it was blessed with two newly ordained priests, namely, Fr. David Yan Naing Aung, SDB and Fr. Joseph Labya Mai Li, SDB. The ordination ceremony Mass, solemnly presided over by His Grace Archbishop Marco Tin Win, surrounded by some 40 priests from Salesian settings and nearby religious communities, began at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of MHC in the Nazareth compound. There were about 600 participants.
Their motto is “My Life for My Sheep!” (Jn 10:15). This is why, during his homily, the ordaining bishop encouraged the newly ordained priests to be good shepherds for the suffering sheep, imitating Jesus the Good Shepherd, and Don Bosco, the disciple of the youth. At the end of the Mass, the words of thanks by Fr. Joseph Mai Li, the presentation of gifts to the parents by the superior, Fr. Bosco Nyi Nyi, and the program of congratulations were orderly taken place at the Shrine.
Due to political situations, the parents and siblings of Fr. David were not able to come to the ordination. However, a live-streaming program was organized by Don Bosco Media for all those who could not join the ceremony physically. Thousands of people viewed the livestream video afterwards.
The Vice-Province is so glad and grateful to the Good Lord for the gifts of the two newly ordained priests. And it always continues praying for them to be happy and faithful to the Lord in the mission till the end.
