Seoul, South Korea, 09 September 2023 -- From 2-7 September 2023, 31 religious members and catechism teachers affiliated with the Salesian Family of Thailand went on a study trip to South Korea. The group was led by Fr. Dheparat Pitisant, SDB, and Fr. Ekasit Talhakultorn, SDB, the coordinator of the committee on catechetical instruction in the Salesian family. Fr. Marcello Baek, SDB, and Fr. Henry Bonetti, SDB, facilitated and led the group to visit the catechetical centers and the related works of evangelization. This trip was part of the catechetical development of the catechism personnel working in the institutions of the Salesian Family of Thailand and initiated by the Catechetical Commission and the cooperation of the members of the Salesian Family.
The participants in this educational trip were composed of 14 priests and lay catechism teachers from Salesian schools, 6 Sisters and lay catechism teachers from the schools of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, 4 Sisters from the Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 3 Sister and lay catechism teachers from the Institute of the Daughters of the Queenship of Mary, 2 Sisters of the Sisters of the Queenship of Mary Immaculate, and 2 women Volunteers of Don Bosco.
During the six-day trip, the group visited the Catechetical Training Center and Kindergarten School of the Caritas Sisters, the Notre Dame Institute for Practical Catechesis in Seoul, the Catholic Catechetical Institute of Seoul, the Teenage Ministry Section of Seoul Archdiocese, The Spiritual Life Ministry Center and Kindergarten of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and the Don Bosco Youth Center. The group also made a pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Seoul and to the Shrine of the Martyrs of Seoul - Seosumun.
Our gratitude goes to the Salesian Provincial of South Korea who billeted the participants at the Provincial House, to Fr. Dheparat Pitisant and the Superiors of the members of the Salesian Family of Thailand for supporting this educational trip. All the participants have received and learned valuable experiences which they could further develop and apply in the context of Thailand.
