FMA Seoul, South Korea, 9 August 2022 -- As with all other FMA provinces around the world, the Korea - Mongolia province (KOR) of the Salesian Sisters 150th anniversary celebration also culminated on August 5, 2022. The 234 FMA Sisters of this province (Superior: Sr Cecilia Kim) prepared their 'Educational Communities' (lay mission partners, youth leaders, Past Pupils, ADMA and Salesian Cooperators) and celebrated in their provincial house with a solemn Eucharistic celebration with the Archbishop of Seoul, Peter Chung Soon-taick, OCD, followed by a youthful musical 'Main-House of Happiness'.
The 3-year preparation for this important anniversary was carefully planned and had brought many charismatic fruits. For their spiritual renewal, the FMA sisters decided on two main targets: community reading and sharing of the Institute's origins and publications on the Mornese spirit (25 titles) and to entrust themselves to Mary as her true daughters with a bright smile day by day.
Among the concrete events or province-wide actions since 2020 have been:
- Introducing the FMA goodnight talk on the 5th of each month (=Foundation day)
- Daily reading and deepening of one Constitution article
- Seminar for their wider 'Education Community' involving all Sisters, Lay mission partners and Salesian Family
- Publication of FMA (Daughters of Mary Help of Christians) journey - volume 1-2
- Launching of JPIC commission in the Korea-Mongolia province
- olidarity fund for the disadvantaged youth at the province level
The 'Main-House of Happiness' musical performed on August 5, 2022 was prepared over time with a large group of lay mission partners, a few SDBs and an enthusiastic group of younger FMA sisters. FMA Sisters have been in South Korea since 1957 with their communities in Seoul (metropolitan area), Suwon, Wonju, Daejon, Gwangju, Chanwon, Busan and Jaeju. KOR province is also entrusted with mission in Mongolia, while Korean FMA missionaries are also working in Africa (Ethiopia, Madagascar, Gabon, Kenya, Benin, Angola, Holy Land, Cambodia and Brazil.
