GOOD NEWS FROM HK!

Peter Newbery

HONK KONG: 16th Sep --at long last, after five and a half years of hard

work, the Lands Dept. of

the Hong Kong Govt. has fixed a date for us to sign the lease for the plot

of land where we want to build the Youth Outreach Integrated Service Center!

The ceremony will take place at 3.00PM on Friday September 24th. In addition

to being the day we commemorate Mary Help of Christians, it is also the

Mid-Autumn Festival in the Chinese calendar. It is indeed an auspicious day!

The ceremony will take place in the all of the Salesian House of Studies in

Shaukiwan Hong Kong and the document will be signed by the Provincial, Fr.

Peter Ho and the Chairman of the Youth Outreach Executive Committee, Mr. Wan

Man-yee. It will, of course, also be attended by the head of the Lands Dept.

(East) and his Assistants.

As a result of this, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has also

informed us that we can go ahead with the building. That is to say the HK$70

million which they pledged will be forthcoming.

Thanks must also go to all the other donors. Particularly the Rector Major

who has made a substantial donation, and the China Province which has

matched the donation of our Mother House in Rome.

All Salesians are invited to attend! If you would like to come just drop me

an E-mail.

There is still a long way to go before the project is completed but Don

Bosco is looking after us indeed.
