One EAO Province accompanying GC26 with Confrères' Retreat

BANGKOK: 8th March 2008 -- The Province of St Paul, Thailand, has been on retreat since 24th February (in two groups, the second finishing today), taking as its theme the Da Mihi Animas..., as a prayerful and reflective way of accompaniment of GC26 and to reawaken zeal and enthusiasm in the heart of each confrère.
This year the retreat has been a team effort, twinning a Brother and a Priest.  Bro Thanad Anan and Fr John Tamayo have long been 'working together'; when the young Thanad was in Grade 6 at Sarasit Phitayalai, the young Salesian clerical student, John Tamayo taught him catechism and later invited him to join the aspirantate.

De Universa Philosophiae exams for Filipino SDB students

CANLUBANG: 8th March 2008 -- Yesterday saw the
culmination of Philosophy studies for seven post-novices at Don Bosco College Canlubang, south of Manila. They took their De Universa Philosophiae comprehensive exam. The oral exam was held at the Pascual Chavez Hall at Don Bosco Postnovitiate House (also on the same compound). Three of their professors sat down as panelists during the exam: Fr. Anthony Paul Bicomong, SDB, Fr. Joel Camaya, SDB and Fr. Michael F. La Guardia, SDB.
The De Universa was not only an academic achievement  but the studies were seen as a religious experience of growth not only in the intellectual dimension but in other aspects of formation too most especially the spiritual.  At least four of the seven candidates achieved a 'cum laude' or more (the highest being 'summa cum laude', for those who still remember such gradings!).
Next year all seven head out for Practical Training in either FIN or FIS provinces.
