Do you feel the call to become a Missionary Ad Gentes?
RMG - Sacro Cuore, Rome, 10 December 2019 -- The by now traditional Salesian Appeal for Missionaries for the coming year (2020), the 151st Missionary Expedition, was launched by the Rector Major on 8 December 2019 through his video message (YouTube ANS Channel) in all major languages.
The five minute video highlights the 'Salesian Missionary Ad Gentes Register' (1875-2019) with all 9520 names of Salesian missionaries who were sent through the annual missionary expedition since 11th November 1875 until now.
Although the Rector major does not mention any concrete mission destination, Fr. Angel challenges the Salesian Brothers, Fathers and young confreres in initial formation with this "enthusiastic missionary appeal and with a strong conviction.This is our reality and this is also the identity of our Congregation. You know that Don Bosco carried a great missionary passion in his heart."
And in the light of this passion, the Successor of Don Bosco addresses the Provinces, his confreres, the whole Congregation, so that they may always be generous and never give up listening to the Lord.
Each Salesian missionary vocation is a fruit of serious discernment, which includes the application letter addressed to the Successor of Don Bosco (cf. the Salesian Mission Day 2015 samples - attached).
Within the EAO region already few weeks ago another group of young Salesians (postnovitiate in Dalat, Vietnam) submitted their applications for the 151st missionary expedition. Indeed according the mind of the Congregation, the postnovitiate stage is the most fitting period of Salesian life for the missionary vocation discernment.
We pray for more generous and committed confreres who would answer this call of God and leave their own comfort zone in order to become a gift for the young people in other part of the world!

Rôma 10/12/2019. Năm tới, Gia đình Salêdiêng sẽ cử hành đợt phát xuất truyền giáo Salêdiêng lần thứ 151. Vào ngày 08/12 vừa qua, Cha Bề trên cả đã phát đi một video dài 5 phút để phát động tinh thần truyền giáo Ad Gentes, gửi đến mọi thành phần trong Gia đình Salêdiêng trên toàn thế giới.
Trong video, Cha Angel nhắc lại danh sách của 9.520 anh em hội viên Salêdiêng đã dấn thân truyền giáo từ năm 1875, đợt phát xuất truyền giáo Salêdiêng đầu tiên, cho đến hôm nay. Ngài tha thiết mời gọi các anh em SDB, từ các Sư huynh, các tư giáo đến các anh em linh mục, hãy quảng đại đáp lời mời gọi của Chúa để lên đường. Ngài nhắc lại rằng, truyền giáo thuộc căn tính ơn gọi Salêdiêng của chúng ta. Chính Don Bosco đã luôn mang chở nơi mình một con tim truyền giáo với niềm đam mê rất sâu xa.
Mỗi ơn gọi truyền giáo là hoa trái của sự phân định nghiêm túc để nhận ra thánh ý Chúa, đồng thời anh em sẽ viết đơn xin đi truyền giáo để trình lên cha Bề Trên cả.
Trong miền EAO của chúng ta, một số anh em hậu tập viện tại cộng thể Don Rua Đà lạt, Việt nam đã viết đơn xin đi truyền giáo trong đợt xuất quân lần thứ 151 vào năm tới. Thời kỳ hậu tập viện là giai đoạn thích hợp nhất để giúp anh em phân định ơn gọi truyền giáo nơi mỗi người.
Xin tiếp tục cầu nguyện để có thêm nhiều tâm hồn quảng đại đáp trả lời Chúa kêu gọi, sẵn sàng ra đi làm việc cho vườn nho nước trời.
