Three new Salesian Cooperators

Nagasaki: 19 October 2010 --   As our correspondent from Japan put it, 'it's not big news, but for us it is important'. On Sunday afternoon 17 October the Salesian Cooperator group in Nagasaki was enriched with three new members.
The ceremony of promise took place in the Salesian Sisters chapel at Omura Nagasaki where the Regional Councillor for EAO, Fr Andrew Wong, and the Extraordinary Visitor for the FMA. Sr Giuseppina Teruggi, General Councillor for Social Communications, were present. Both are presently carrying out the Extraordinary Visitation for Japan for their respective communities. This presence of two major superiors added a solemn touch to the event and was a special reasons for joy and thanks for all those present.
The three new Cooperators made their promise during the Mass at which Fr Aldo Cipriani, provincial, presided, flanked by local and provincial Salesian Family delegates.
And of course there was the fraternal agape with speeches and some magic.
The Nagasaki Cooperators are now 29 in number, the most numerous group in Japan. Japan has 139 Salesian Cooperators, almost double the number of ten years ago. It is a good sign.
