By Fr. Francis Pham Dinh Phuoc SDB

Dalat, Vietnam, December 11, 2015 - The Salesian website Daily Gospel (loichua.donboscoviet.net) was launched in 2014 by the Social Communication delegate of the VIE (Vietnam-Mongolia) province, Fr. Peter Chinh. As of now it’s probably one of the most consistent Salesian efforts in our region in fostering the love for the Word of God. More than 30 confreres are involved in this joint online ministry.

“At the beginning a small group of confreres did start with a regular sharing of meditation about the Sunday readings (Word of God) for the provincial website. Later on emerged the idea about an independent website dedicated just to the Word of God (Daily Gospel). Fr. Phuoc was chosen as the coordinator of the possible ‘Lectio divina’ method and team. A group of the Dalat postnovices took charge about the Daily Gospel meditation and another group of young priests took care about the Sunday Gospel meditations.

The ‘Daily Gospel’ website mission aims at fostering the love of the Salesians towards the Word of God through its reading and meditation; then at the spreading of the Word of God.

There are about 30 Salesians involved in this online ministry: 10 young priests and about 20 postnovices. So far not yet other members of the Salesian family are involved. Some confreres do contribute every Sunday and young brothers in formation contribute once a month or every second month. There are also some specific contributions according Scripture readings on the liturgical Feast days or feast of Saints.

At the provincial level there is movement for the prayerful reading of the Word of God (=Lectio divina), although not very consistent. Sometimes the Formation sector does help us to prepare materials for the Lectio divina, like during the Bicentenary Year of Don Bosco all confreres did receive some Lectio divina materials from the province.

We wish the Loi Chua (Daily Gospel) website would be accessed frequently by thousands of visitors and one day we could publish also the translation of ‘Bible with Don Bosco’ (=Ed. LAS, published by Fr. Morand Wirth) in Vietnamese.”

Together with some other Salesian provinces, Vietnam Daily Gospel team works with consistency - like Argentina Don Bosco Lectio Divina website and daily email services (since 2008: www.donbosco.org.ar) or Korean daily Gospel meditation sharing (ibosco.net) or Thai Sunday Gospel video sharing (Fr. Banchong). We hope the consistent prayerful reading of the Word of God will bring many fruits in all EAO provinces.
