Hua Hin, Thailand, 28 April 2024 --The Provincial Chapter of the Province of Thailand - Cambodia - Laos (THA) was held from 22 to 25 April, entrusted to the moderator, Fr Peter Niphon Sarachit and chaired by Fr Anthony Boonlert Panetatthayasai, THA Provincial. The Chapter, which had “PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO YOUNG PEOPLE” as its theme has been prepared for the past 6 months.

There were altogether 36 members officially elected. Together with them, there were other 8 individuals invited as observers. Among these 8 participants, there was a representative of each group of the Salesian Family in Thailand, such as FMA, SIHM, DQM, SQM, ASC, VDB, ADMA, and Past Pupils.

The Provincial Chapter aims to offer valuable contributions to the GC29 that will take place in Valdocco, Turin in 2025 on the theme "PASSIONATE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST, DEDICATED TO YOUNG PEOPLE. Living our Salesian vocation faithfully and prophetically.” The participants in the Provincial Chapter worked on the 3 core areas proposed by the GC29, and it was also an opportunity to explore and reflect on the animation and governance of the Congregation, seeking to strengthen ties with the laity and the Salesian Family, and thus continue to work together for the well-being and future of young people.

The Salesian Province of Thailand (THA) came into existence in August 1927. From the humble beginnings that it had 97 years ago, at the moment the THA province has 100 members residing in 16 houses spread over 3 countries, trying to reach out to the poorest of the poor. They become messengers of love and hope to the poor young people realized through their Schools (14), Parishes (8), Formation Houses (4), and Youth Hostels (2).
