Tinsukia, Guwahati, India, 13 December 2022 -- The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC) celebrated the first profession of 42 novices in Tinsukia, Assam, on 8 December 2022 , at the Eucharist celebrated by Nicolas Hermon, bishop of Dibrugarh. And the same day 45 MSMHC Sisters made their final profession at Little Flower Convent Hatigaon, during the solemn Mass celebrated by John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati.
This joyful event happens in the Centenary Year of the Salesian Family presence in North East India (1922-2022). The main celebration for this took place during the last few months, including the presence of the 10th successor of Don Bosco. Both religious vows celebrations were attended by large numbers of their family members, religious, faithful and Salesian Family members. The Archbishop reminded the Sisters in his homily that '... By your consecration you are imitating Jesus, our Master. He is the supreme consecrated person and the missionary of the Father and encouraged the perpetually professed sisters to be faithful in their resolve to imitate Christ more closely and to undertake a daily life of commitment and generous service.'
The missionary enthusiasm of the MSMHC Sisters has seen this congregation flourish with more than 1500 members living and working in 150 religious communities in India and 29 in a further 15 countries around the world. After their new presences in Myanmar (2017) and PNG (2022) the MSMHC also reached the center of Pacific with their new mission center in Kauai (Hawaii islands) on October 7, 2022. This year the Sisters are celebrating the 80th anniversary of their foundation in 1942.
We congratulate the MSMHC Congregation for their 45 perpetually professed sisters and pray that more of their members may come to the much needed missions around the East Asia-Oceania region, where the Salesian Family is waiting for them! Mary, Help of Christians, Pray for Us!
