The first four Salesians in Cambodia (Br. Roberto Panetto, Fr. Valter Brigolin, Fr. John Visser and Br. Conrado Lagaya), opened the first technical education programs for youth from poor communities and got support to create different workshops such as electricity, welding, automotive, electronics and printing.

The Salesians have been sensitive to the realities of poverty and marginalisation. The children of Poipet have been always an interest of Don Bosco and it gave the possibility of a new presence in that city at the Thai-Cambodian border.
