"COME AND SEE"

Bangkok, Thailand, 22 November 2019 -- From 20-23 November 2019, on the occasion of the apostolic visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Thailand, the Federation of Religious Superiors of Thailand has organized a Youth Gathering of Catholic students under the theme "Come and See". This was done to prepare the youth for the apostolic visit of Pope Francis. The Federation of Religious Superiors assigned the Salesians to be the backbone of this particular gathering, under the leadership of Fr. Joseph Nopphadon, the head of Salesian Youth Pastoral Ministry. He received the close collaboration of the other 25 religious congregations in Thailand. There will be 404 youth participants and 175 collaborators. The gathering will be held at Phra Mae Marie School - Sathorn.

At this gathering, the youth studied on how to follow Jesus; they learned also about the 350 years of Christianization of the Church in Thailand. They underwent also a spiritual renewal through the sacrament of reconciliation and prayers, especially on the vigil night when other 1,300 youth came and joined.

Moreover, on the night of 20 November 2019, His Holiness Pope Francis phoned-in also to greet the youth. The most important highlight of this gathering is the celebration of the Holy Mass with the Pope. This will be celebrated at the Assumption Cathedral on Friday, the 22nd of November 2019. Another 5,000 youth will join the celebration.
