Sampran, Thailand, 1st August 2019 -- Our formation community at Sampran was happy to share a brief but intense animation visit from our EAO regional councillor on the evening of 31 July. Fr. Klement came directly from Kuching, Malaysia and by Sampran traditions we joined the Redemptoris celebrations - Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (CSsR), our closest neighbor in the small Catholic 'Thai Vatican' - in Sampran. Usually each congregation that is located near the only major seminary 'Lux Mundi' invite all the other (15) Congregations for the main feast of their Patron Saint or Founder. So we attended together the Mass and festive meal on the occasion of Saint Alphonsus Liguori.

After the celebrations in the nearby Redemptorist House with hundreds of participants from a variety of male and female religious congregations, we spent a good quality time among ourselves for a simple animation. Fr. Vaclav shared his talk on one simple question: What helps you to grow in your vocation? There was a lively interchange and sharing around this theme: from prayer and spiritual direction, fraternal community support, personal commitment of work and temperance - up to the missionary zeal learned from the young people in the Sunday Oratory. And we also realized the complementarity of Salesian Brother and Priest, since we are blessed also with two young Brothers - one from Cambodia and another from Thailand.

This school year our community of 5 formators and 11 young Salesians (prenovitiate to postnovitiate) and candidates is blessed with the arrivalof three new prenovices from Banpong, Nazareth House and recently arrived Fr. Noppadol, who just finished his Licentiate study in Youth Ministry in Rome, UPS. We are proud to be an intercultural community, with a variety of cultures - Italian, Thai, Karen, Vietnamese and Khmer. Also there is one new substantial development in our Lux Mundi major seminary. Since this school year, most of the important subjects are taught in English, so our young candidates and confreres are facing up to the language challenge as well!

We are happy to invite you to accompany your dynamic young Salesians in prayer!
