FIN CYM Office – Philippines

November 21, 2018

The Commission on Youth Ministry of the FIN Province met with Fr. Vaclav Klement, EAO Regional Councilor, last November 21, 2018. Fr. Joebeth Vivo, the Delegate for Youth Ministry, has presented to Fr. Vaclav its organizational chart of animation based on the Salesian Youth Ministry Frame of Reference and the different sectors with their Salesian in-charge: Oratory-Youth Centers, Parishes, Don Bosco Educational Centers (BED, TVET, HEI and Pastoral Team), Migrant Youth, Young Adults Ministry, Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), Family Ministry and Vocation Ministry.

The Commission also presented its efforts in preparing the province for the Year of the Youth in the Philippines (2019) which is celebrated in preparation for the 500th Anniversary of the Christianization of the Philippines (2021). The FIN Provincial has organized the Youth.com as a committee that prepares the province for the celebration. It has worked to come up with the profile of the young people as perceived by the Salesian youth but validated by the Lay Mission Partners and the Salesians of the province. The province aims for a Renewed Youth Ministry which begins with listening and accompaniment (based on the current strenna and spirit of the Synod on Youth) of young people and lay mission partners. The process of achieving the goal is comprised of three moments: Reflection, Discernment and Planning. The province is right now in the period of discernment as it puts every Salesian community, the lay mission partners and the young people to discern based on the youth profile what God wants them to do for themselves and especially for the young people.

Also, Fr. Vaclav has affirmed the commission for this effort since it is really of great help in the preparation of the province for the provincial chapter.  Coming from his experience with the EAO YM Delegates encounter, he also oriented the commission about the immediate priorities of the EAO in terms of Youth Ministry, and discussion followed thereafter.

In the end, Fr. Vaclav encouraged the different sector and ministry heads to continue its work for the young asking continuously for the grace and blessing of more Salesian vocations, which is the crowning glory of Youth Ministry.
