Salesian Family Primary Teachers' Seminar, HK

28 August 2013 --  Salesian Family primary schools  have organized a joint seminar on the Preventive System for their teachers. The focus of the seminar was how to implement the Preventive System in everyday teaching and how non-Christian teachers can use the Preventive System in their work.

Teachers can implement the Preventive System by carrying out their assigned duties and classroom teaching well, and by relying on the grace of God. They can form their students through the 12 abilities of Spiritual Education in the subjects they teach.

One of the most important things in teaching is the ability to ask questions. Knowing how to question can lead to the truth. Even non-Christian students need to know how to question and find the answer to the supernatural aspects of life, death, suffering and love.

6 teachers from the schools shared their experience in implementing the Preventive System in their teaching. One of the teachers said that teachers were like farmers who sowed the seed in their
students’ hearts so that they are ready for God to make them grow and bear fruit.

Another teacher thought that the reason why teachers felt tired in teaching was that they did not rely on the grace of God. Religion cannot be grasped easily. Teachers can bring students to the natural environment and show them how great is God’s creation. They can also ask students to write some personal prayers to praise the greatness of God.

Finally, they said that teachers should develop a friendly relationship with students, especially in the first 3 months of the school year, letting them know that they are loved. Teachers should utilize every opportunity in classroom lessons, at assembly periods, and at lunch time to affirm, encourage, accept and praise the students. It is important to teach the students how to gain knowledge and how to learn. It is also important to nurture the hearts of the students by good thoughts, so that they are ready for the word of God to bear fruit.
