HOLY SERVANTS: FIN, FIS and CIN Renewal of Profession

by Bro Jose Maria Castillo

CANLUBANG AND HONG KONG: 4th May 2008: Last year, on May 1st,  an international community of novices in Cebu (FIS) made their first religious profession. Exactly one year later, they renewed their vows as Salesians (one brother and 4 candidates for priesthood). The interesting thing about this renewal was that it happened simultaneously at seven o'clock in the morning in two different points in the region, in Hong Kong and Canlubang. (They actually did not talk about it!)

Clerical students Philip Huang Long-Hsuan, John Lou San and Anthony Pun Ming Chi renewed vows in front of Fr. Klement Vaclav (Councillor for the Missions), Fr. Simon Lam (Provincial) and Br. Paul Lee (Administrator of the Studentate) in Hong Kong. On the other side of the region, Clerical student Eric Maalik (FIS) and Br. Jomar Castillo (FIN) renewed vows in the presence of Fr. Roel Soto (Rector of Postnovitiate), Fr. Rolo Alcasid (Rector of Aspirantate and Prenovitiate) and Fr. Peter Zago (Delegate for the Missions in Pakistan). They continue to get inspiration taken from John 13:15—"I have given you an example so that you may imitate what I have done for you."—their theme during their first profession. Coincidence? I can say: Providence!
