Manila: up close and personal

MANILA: 29th September 2007
-- The Theological Symposium “Up Close and Personal” was held last Tuesday, September 25, 2007 in the St. John Bosco Parish Church – Makati City. The speakers were Fr. Catalino Arevalo SJ., Fr. Savio Hon Tai Fai SDB, and Bishop Luis Antonio Tagle DD. The symposium on the three writings of Pope Benedict XVI (Deus Caritas EstSacramentum Caritatis, and Jesus of Nazareth) was on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Don Bosco Center of Studies. The speakers discussed the vision, mind, and heart of the Holy Father, respectively, as they have worked with him (as Cardinal Ratzinger) up close and personal as their head in the International Theological Commission of the Doctrine of Faith.
The reactors for the respective speakers were Fr. Ramon Garcia SDB., Msgr. Moises Andrade, and Fr. Lucio Guttierez OP. Fr. Francis Gustilo SDB (Provincial Emeritus and a resident professor) and Fr. Gio Santos SDB (Rector and President of DBCS) gave the opening and the closing remarks, respectively.
Cclose to one thousand three hundred (students of theology, clergy, religious men and women and lay faithful) attended the whole day event.
Archbishop Angel Lagdameo (the current President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines) and four other Bishops attended the symposium.
