5 new Salesians make their first profession in Cebu

CEBU: 1st May 2007 -- Today on the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker, Bro. Jose Maria Castillo SDB (FIN) made his First Profession as a Salesian Brother at Don Bosco Missionary Seminary, Lawaan, Cebu. With him are four other new clerics who also made their first profession: Bro. Eric Malik from IslamabadPakistan (FIS), Bro. John Lou San SDB (CIN) and Bro. Anthony Pun Ming Chi SDB (CIN) both from Hong Kong, and Bro. Philip Huang Long Hsuan SDB (CIN) from TainanTaiwan.  The five new Salesians made their profession before Fr. Julius Arthur Sanchez SDB – FIS Provincial. It was witnessed by Fr. Simon Lam SDB – CIN Provincial, Fr. Andrew Wong SDB – FIN Provincial and Fr. Savio Hon SDB former CIN Provincial. Also present for the solemn event was a big delegation of Salesians from FIN. The occasion was likewise attended by other Salesians, Cooperators, religious sisters, seminarians, alumni, seminary workers and many young people among whom the 5 new brothers have carried out their Sunday apostolate for the past year.
       During their novitiate year, this batch of newly professed Salesians had called themselves “Holy Servants” (Sancti Servi). On their First Profession, they had taken inspiration from John 13:15 “I have given you an example so that you may imitate what I have done for you.”
       Three days after their First Profession, Bro. John, Bro. Philip and Bro. Anthony will continue their Philosophy in the Salesian House of Studies in Hong Kong (CIN) while Bro. Jomar and Bro. Eric will pursue their Post Novitiate Formation in Don Bosco College in Canlubang (FIN).
