St. Joseph the Worker Day marked by 15 Final Professions in the Region

PARAÑAQUE: 2nd May 2006 -- After a year of intense preparation for perpetual profession with intense prayer too (two individually directed retreats!), the 15 perpetuandi (candidates for perpetual profession) who have been preparing in the Philippines were ready to make their perpetual profession. Yesterday, May 1, the feast of St. Joseph the worker, the Seminaryo ng Don Bosco Parañaque celebrated the perpetual profession of fourteen (14) cleric brothers and one (1) Coadjutor brother.
The profession was held in two places. Two clerics from FIS made their profession in the morning at Cebu. This was presided over by Fr Julius Sanchez the provincial of FIS. The rest made their profession in the afternoon at Parañaque presided over by Fr. Andrew Wong, provincial of FIN.
The perpetuandi came from the following provinces: three (3) from Philippine North Province, two (2) from Philippine South Province, four (4) from Vice Province of Sri Lanka, one (1) from Korean province, and five (5) from Indonesia - East Timor province.
A Coadjutor brother, Bro. Ves Cresencio who hails from Bohol, an island in the Visayas, made his profession this year. The Congregation is making great efforts, with the EAO Region one of those at the forefront of those efforts, to encourage further Brother vocations.
There were a good number of visitors who came for the celebration in Manila: families and friends of the confreres, other religious congregations, members of the Salesian Family. The Provincial Economer from Korea came to represent the province for the perpetual profession of Bro. Timothy Choi who is applying as a missionary to Papua New Guinea. While most of the guests from other religious congregations were fellow countrymen of the Indonesian and East Timorese brothers.
Bro. Aquiles from ITM gave a short talk after the celebration. He thanked everybody present and also asked prayers for their perseverance. The celebration was followed with refreshments offered by the Seminaryo.
Now the perpetually professed brothers are off to their new assignments for the summer apostolate. Bro Ves will be assigned as technical director of the training center in Don Bosco Youth Center, Tondo. It will be a home-coming of sorts for him since he did his practical training in the same place.
If you wish to add further comments, a word of congrats perhaps to those professed, or information about such professions in other parts of the Region, feel free to do so at BoscoWiki austraLasia page.
