A.M.I.S (Amici Missioni Isole Solomons charity trust Inc) is a group of Italian Volunteers which built the Good Samaritan Hospital at Tetere from 2004 to 2008.
The same group built a second Good Samaritan Hospital at the Nila Catholic Mission Station in the Shortland Islands from 2014 to 2015. The Mini Hospital has now been fully furbished and equipped.
This past week a group of Italian Doctors, regularly registered with the Medical and Dental Board, has carried out medical mission to be able to offer help to the local nurses and to identify the needs for further and future support. They appreciated the spirit of the people and offered their services with great spirit of understanding and support for the people. They hope to be back and help in some of the needs they have identified with the medical staff there. They were particularly struck with the great professionalism of the nurses and of their desire to get further formation. They also noticed a great number of ear infection in children and cataract in the elderly. Bringing further equipment and providing cataract operations in Nila would be a real great event which will make lots of elderly people see the world with new eyes.
This mission has not been financed by any great organization but by simple people who care, who make fund raising, get people involved and come on their own efforts to be able to share the good news and to work for the GLOBALIZATION OF THE HEARTS which is the only winning power in the world defeating any indifference, apathy and “wari blong you” attitude…
