HK: FMA and SAL renew vows before the Relic of Don Bosco

HONG KONG: 31 March 2011 – Members of the Salesian Sisters and the Sisters Announcers of the Lord gathered for an evening prayer service on 28 March before the Relic of Don Bosco to renew their vows on such a special occasion.
During a sharing of Don Bosco’s story of faith, they were reminded to reflect on their own faith in God as something that can overcome all obstacles. “As God allows these obstacles, they are obvious signs that you will derive greater values from them. The greater the difficulty, the more we need to rely on God. God’s grace will be granted when he finds us working hard, generously for the love of God", Fr Simon Lam, SDB Provincial, reminded them.
He went on to include comments on mission and consecration ("We cannot leave out consecration in our work and service. If we leave out consecration, our mission will become weak; we are only doing our own work and not God’s”), and on the witness that convinces people these days ("It is expected that a many people will participate the beatification ceremony for John Paul II, and later, World Youth Day 2011. Young people are not indifferent but looking for something that can touch their hearts. We have to ask ourselves if we can touch their hearts").
Fr Simon finally offered a thought on community life, “Community life is difficult. We must contribute to it. It is important that we communicate, laugh, pray, share with each other, be led by the Superior of the community. We need to make the community alive, happy, mutually supportive and united. Eucharist is the core of communion".
