Don Bosco and the Salesian Family in Movement - 150 Years

HUA HIN: 31st August 2009 -- “We are one family - one in spirit and one in mission” declared Fr. John Bosco Dheparat Pitisant, THA Provincial, during the opening of the seminar on “Don Bosco and the Salesian Family in Movement - 150 years” at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin, Thailand. The Seminar, which commenced 31st August, will continue until 2nd September. Fr. Dheparat  also reminded the assembly of the of the Rector Major's desire that we all know and love Don Bosco in order to imitate him. 
    The seminar is being facilitated by Fr. Joe Boenzi SDB, visiting professor of Spiritual Theology at the School of Theology at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome and Professor of the Institute of Salesian Studies at Berkeley, California.  The main guiding topics are:  Starting afresh with Don Bosco (Day One), Context and Prayer (Day Two) and Growing in the Salesian Spirit (Day Three). In the context of the educative mission of THA Province, the topic on “Educating with the Heart of Don Bosco - Don Bosco’s apostolic and spiritual legacy for the Salesian Family’ will discern ways to be integrated with local culture.  
    The seminar is part of the celebration of the Salesian holy year 2009 and is being attended by eighty participants  (first batch) from the Salesian Family in Thailand: The Salesians of Don Bosco, The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, The Daughters of the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and The Daughters of the Queenship of Mary. 
    The provinces of VIE and FIN have also sent participants from their respective provinces.
