Thai Salesian Scouts and Guides gather in their thousands for Hua Hin Jamboree

HUA HIN: 13th January 2007 -- More than 2,000 Scouts and Guides from seven Salesian schools have gathered in Hua Hin, Thailand, for a massive rally under the theme of Unity in Diversity, and Sharing our Cultures.  This is the 4th Salesian Jamboree to be held in the country. The event, which began yesterday 12th January, runs until 15th January. The schools represented are: Hua-Hin Vitthayalai, Sarasit Pitthayali Ban-Pong, Don Bosco Bitthaya Udornthani, Uppatham Vitthaya Phanom, Saeng Thong Vitthaya Had-Yai, Arun Vitthaya, and Dominic Savio Bangkok.
A full range of activities is planned.  The young people are divided into five groups: St John Bosco, Blessed Michael Rua, Blessed Philip Rinaldi, St. Dominic Savio and St. Joseph Cafasso.  The event offers participants opportunities to learn new skills, make new friends and also, in true scouting tradition, to offer help to people in nearby communities.
Fr John Bosco Thepharat Pitisant, Provincial, began the Jamboree with an address in which he invited the participants to celebrate the event with love and joy in the spirit of St John Bosco.
Some excellent photos of the event are already available in the main Salesian web site sdb.org. There is as yet no captions for these, but there are pretty much obvious!
