SCJ First International Seminar on Family Ministry
BEPPU: 7 June 2012 --  Thirty five Sisters of Charity of Jesus from 15 countries have been gathered in Beppu. Japan since 4th June for their first meeting and study session on family apostolate, one of the deliberations of the SCJ 14th General Chapter in the area of mission, which asked them to revitalise family ministry, in the spirit of the Preventive System and the tradition they had inherited since their foundation.

The aim of this seminar, which is due to conclude on 8 June, is to draw up the Congregation's vision of this apostolate by reflecting on three aspects in particular:

- Family Apostolate within the Church
- Family Apostolate as a response to the urgent needs of today's society
- Family Apotolate as part of the Congregation's charism

Reports on family from all 15 countries where the Sisters are working is helping them to draw up a common vision.

On 6 June, Fr Marcelo Baek Kwang Hyun SDB from the Korean Province, who coordinates the Study Centre for Salesian Youth Ministry and Spirituality, addressed the Seminar, speaking of The family today and youth ministry.
