THE PRIEST, THE PRINCESS, AND THE RICHES OF SOLOMON!

Achille Loro Piana

TOKYO - 27th March -- Fr. Luciano Capelli, former provincial of Manila,

responsible for the development of the Salesian Mission in the Solomon

Islands is in Japan for a three week animation visit to the Salesian Houses

and the Salesian Family of this province. Showing the slides he has in his

PC, he speaks with great enthusiasm of the Salesian Presence in Honiara

and Tetere and especially of the project he has in mind to work for the

young in jail, as Don Bosco himself did.

Her Highness Princess Norinomiya, daughter of the Japanese Emperor, recently

attended the same function as Fr. Capelli and respnded to his invitation to

visit Honiara with a polite "I would like to if I had a chance". Fr.

Capelli's words and smiles go straight to the heart of anyone, Salesian or

other, who is becoming more and more interested in this new salesian

presence in the Pacific. In a few days Fr. Capelli will be back in Honiara.

The salesians in Japan are very grateful to him for the precious missionary

animation he has done in the province.
