Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, 28 April 2019 -- Hopefully in record time, just a few weeks after the publication of the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis 'Christus Vivit!' (Christ is Alive) on 'Youth - Faith - Vocation Discernment', the Manila-based "Word and Life Publications' will release their 'Study edition' - a precious gift for all members of the Salesian Family around the English-speaking world. In the meantime, the text with subject index is already published.

After the first 'browsing' of the Exhortation (AustraLasia 5057 (II) on April 6 we 'discover' other East Asia - Oceania Catholic community related passages in this Magisterium text:

no. 178 (Korean bishops quoted)

Don’t think that this mission is soft and easy. Some young people have given their lives for the sake of missionary outreach. As the Korean bishops put it: “we hope that we can be grains of wheat and instruments for the salvation of humanity, following upon the example of the martyrs. Though our faith is as small as a mustard seed, God will give it growth and use it as an instrument for his work of salvation”. Young friends, don’t wait until tomorrow to contribute your energy, your audacity and your creativity to changing our world. Your youth is not an “in-between time”. You are the now of God, and he wants you to bear fruit. For “it is in giving that we receive”. The best way to prepare a bright future is to experience the present as best we can, with commitment and generosity.

(Pastoral Letter on the 150th Anniversary of the Martyrdom during the Byeong-in Persecution (Seoul, 30 March 2016)

no. 201 (Samoan youth quoted)

During the Synod, one of the young auditors from the Samoan Islands spoke of the Church as a canoe, in which the elderly help to keep on course by judging the position of the stars, while the young keep rowing, imagining what waits for them ahead. Let us steer clear of young people who think that adults represent a meaningless past, and those adults who always think they know how young people should act. Instead, let us all climb aboard the same canoe and together seek a better world, with the constantly renewed momentum of the Holy Spirit.

On Boscolink in the meantime, you can get the valuable introduction published by two Special Secretaries of the 2018 Synod, Fr Rosanno Sala (SDB) and Fr Giacomo Costa (SJ) -- this will be part of the Study edition of the 'Christus Vivit!'
