Provincial Encounter of the Salesian Brothers in Vietnam
HCM City, Vietnam, 28 April 2017 -- After a six years break was organized a province level encounter of Salesian Brothers in Vietnam on April 28, 2017 in the Xuan Hiep community in HCM City. A historical meeting was animated by Fr Joseph Phuoc and Br. Dominic Nam with the participation of 40 Salesian Brothers from all over the country.
One day program was based on mutual sharing and study about the present and future of Salesian Brother vocation in Vietnam - Mongolia Province. Indeed there are 60 Salesian Brothers among the 319 members of the largest province of EAO, 31 of them in the initial formation stage. Every year there are many novices who are discerning the Salesian Brother vocation with the accompaniment of the novice master and other senior Brothers sharing. Presence of model Brothers in all 4 formation houses is also very helpful for their formation, many of them are also studying in Sandor community in Paranaque, with one Vietnamese Brother formator.
The rich program included sharing by Br. Dominic Nam about the 'Renewed awareness about the Salesian Brother' (ACG 424, Fr. Ivo Coelho), group discussion, feedback and animation by the Formation delegate, by the EAO regional councilor and also with preparation for the next 7th EAO Regional Congress of Salesian Brother to be held in Vietnam next August 2018. The last point of the encounter was election of the EAO Congress logistics committee and another vote for the Salesian Brothers Coordinator at the provincial level - Br. Dominic Nam willingly accepted.
