Fatumaca, Timor Leste, 24 May 2016 -- The feast of our Mother Mary was celebrated solemnly and with great devotion in the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians – Fatumaca. On the morning of the Feast day the salesian family joyfully welcomed Dom Virgilio do Carmo da Silva SDB the Bishop of Dili Diocese who came to celebrate the feast of Mary Help of Christians as well as to inaugurate and to shower his blessing upon the new building of the College. At 14.00 in the afternoon, the solemn procession of the Statue of the Blessed Virgin was made from the grotto to the Shrine of our Lady.
A very good number of the faithful came for the occasion, among them some Ministers from the Timorese Government, the Past Pupils and the other members of the Salesian Family, including the students from the Salesian Schools. At 15.00 in the afternoon, the solemn Eucharistic Celebration was presided by the Bishop of Dili Diocese Dom Virgilio do Carmo da Silva SDB. The liturgical celebration was made more solemn by the majestic choral renditions of the students of the College and the nearby villages who came for the occasion. After the Mass, the faithful came to reverence the statue of Mary.
As usual, the Feast of our Blessed Mother was an unforgettable occasion for everyone, especially the members of the Salesian Family, whom the Feast gathers together each year. We pray that all of us may always experience the loving intercession of Mary in our daily lives. Mary Help of Christians – Pray for us all.
