Jakarta, Indonesia, 8 May 2024 -- The month of May is special to the Salesians. There are a lot of feasts and celebrations on this month. 1 May, the celebration of Saint Joseph the worker; 6 May, the feast day of Saint Dominic Savio; and the big celebration on 24 May, Mary Help of Christians, the patron of the Salesians.
In honor of St Dominic Savio and Mary Help of Christians, the Post-novitiate community of Jakarta is running a basketball competition for young people. The basketball competition of this year was different from the previous years, where the community invited young people who are using our playground as their daily sports activity. These young people are the daily oratory of the post-Novitiate community, and they are Muslims, Catholics, and Protestants. Through this competition, we hope everyone can realize the importance of respect for each other, honesty, teamwork, and spreading the Joy of life and friendship. The theme of our competition is ‘Run, Jump, and Shout but Do not Sin’, “Dominic Savio”.
