By ASC 'Martelli Centre'

Gwangju, South Korea, 11 November 2020 -- The Salesian Cooperators 'Martelli Cente' in Gwangju, attached to the SDB community in charge of three schools is made up of two 'teams' - Grigio(sic!) team and Rinaldi team. Even during pandemic times the Cooperators youth apostolate continues in new and creative ways.

The Salesian Cooperators Rinaldi team is a low-key service at the 'Don Bosco Wee School' campus established by the Gwangju City Education Department as an 'Alternative school' for young people who find it difficult to adapt to the highly competitive school system in Korea. After their activity you can see some beautiful flowers around the campus.

Meanwhile, the Salesian Cooperators Grigio team serving the school's oratory youth gave opportunities for hikes in nearby mountains. Due to pandemic restrictions they organized an interesting and fun-filled sports event in the large school gymnasium, with the help of spiritual coordinator Fr Shin Minsu.

NB: Among the 30 local Salesian Cooperator centres in South Korea, the 'Martelli Centre' has a special position. They took the name of Fr Archimedes Martelli (1920-1984) who was the founder and pioneer of the Salesian Mission in Korea since 1954. And immediately after the opening of the Gwangju 'Salesian High School' in April 1956 he also launched the first group of Salesian Cooperators around this young school. So the 'Martelli Centre', with some interruption, may be proud of its 60-year history.
