Ben Cat, Vietnam, 16 July 2018 -- As annual tradition, when summer comes the atmosphere of Salesian house becomes more interesting and cheerful. It is very joyful and happy because of so many different activities of youth center, both of summer classes and summer sports festival. This is the time of learning and also of competition between different players of basket ball or football or other sports in the spirit of “You can play as much as possible but not sin.”

After a long time of waiting, this afternoon Saturday, July 14, 2018 the Salesian community Ben Cat welcomed 26 basket ball teams (10 female basket ball teams and 16 male basket ball teams). The rain during the beginning of the afternoon could not stop the cheerfulness and the loving sports of the players and cheerers. However, after a short time the rain stoped caused the openning ceremony at 16:00 become wonderful.

First of all, Fr. Rector Pet. Pham Huy Hoang, SDB as the main animator of this community welomced and talked to the young about the joy of being in the house of Don Bosco, and the love of Don Bosco for the young. After that, he invited all the young to take responsibility of their lives and also to contibute their part to build their good lives and to build up the society. Together with fr. Pet. Hoang, SDB also with the presence of Fr. Paul Chu Trong Phuoc, SDB coming from one of the Salesian Provinces from America made special atmosphere of the openning day of sports festival.

The oratory director fr. Jos. Phan Trung Hoan, SDB shared about the purposes of different activies which many young people have been partipated in recent years. Then fr. Jos. Hoan, SDB thanked the salesian community and the group of youth leaders for their support and invited them to continue to contribute their talent in serving other young people.

After making oath of players and referee commision, they had picture taking of each team. Right after that, the main referee brother Francis savior Nguyen Ngoc Tuan had officially allowed the first basket ball game begun.

This openning day had five matches, and then other matches will continually happenned until the closing day of summer sports festival on 29 July 2018.
