Lalitpur, Nepal. May 14 - This morning Nepal Don Bosco Society Relief team went to a village called Chaughare ward numbers 1, 3, 6, 8 and 9 of Lalitpur district. On our way we also picked up a few soldiers who were going for relief and rescue work in different villages of the same district. We distributed rice (a bag of 20 kg) lentils (2kg), salt (1 Kg), oil (1 liter) and wai wai (10 packets) to 32 families.

Here is the link to a comprehensive report on Salesian's pastoral activities to the earthquake victims of Nepal, written by Fr. Jude SDB for www.donboscoindia.com

I am a Salesian from the Philippines. How can we send our little amount of money for the Nepal victims of the

    Earthquake?

    Thanks and God bless!

    Dear Father,

Fr. Vaclav has forwarded to me your message. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the concern your community is showing for the people of Nepal. Though none of our own institutions are seriously affected, maybe BECASUE OF THAT, the Salesians have been able to provide a lot of help to several villages in four districts closest to us where the people have lost everything.

The response from Salesians all over the world has been very encouraging. We are still faced with a problem of where to send the money and how much to send ! One problem is that if the money is sent to Nepal, we can't take it out to India and, on the other hand, if money comes into India, we can't take it our to Nepal ! We prefer to buy whatever we can in Nepal itself and distribute it. What we cannot find in Nepal we have to buy in India and send across.

Hence, I am closely monitoring the situation day by day, and the need for the money in Nepal and the need for the money in India and from to day I direct one or another of the donors how much to send and where. SO, the best you can do right now is to hold on to the money you have collected (and keep collecting!) and one day or another I shall let you know where to send the money and how much. Perhaps that may even be needed only in the second phase - the reconstruction stage.

Thank you once again for your generous thought and large heart. Please ask your confreres and children to pay for those SDBs and FMAs in the field and the people of Nepal.

    Best Regards.
