Consultation for the new provincial of China province

Hong Kong-Macau-Tainan, 31 May 2018 -- Between May 24 and May 31 was conducted the consultation for the new provincial of China province (Hong Kong - Macau - Taiwan) for the successor of Fr. Lanfranco Fedrigotti (2012-2018) whose term will expire in few weeks time. Great majority of the 112 confreres of CIN province took part in the process animated by the EAO regional councilor.

Three discernment encounters with participation of 83 confreres took place on May 25 in Macau (near the Mother house in the Seminary of St. Jose), next in Hong Kong on May 26 (Salesian Missionary House) and the last in Taiwan (Tainan, Salesian Technical school) on May 29. After each consultation meeting in the afternoon followed each territory quarterly pastoral meeting in line with the next GC28 local application 'What kind of Salesian for our work - school, parish and youth centers - in Macau, Hong Kong and Taiwan'.

With the timing between the Feast of Mary Help of Christians (Patroness of China and of China province), Fr Klement was able also to participate in three special events - in the Blessing of the Family Pastoral Center in Macau (May 25) with about 150 children and their parents (Fr. Savio Yeung in charge), in the Procession of Mary Help of Christians in Hong Kong, Tang King Po (Fr. Francis Che, parish priest) with a large participation of 400 Salesian family members and in a family encounter with the diocesan bishop of Tainan, Bosco Lin (after his 75 years and recently finished Ad Limina visit in Rome) our Salesian Cooperator.

There are 2 communities in Macau (12 SDB), 3 communities in Taiwan (17 SDB) and 6 communities in Hong Kong (80+ SDB) and few confreres studying abroad. This year there is no novice, but there are 4 prenovices who just recently arrived to the Philippines for their two years of prenovitiate and novitiate (FIN and FIS).

All EAO region confreres are invited to pray for the next stage of discernment process in view of appointment of the next provincial of the Mother province!
