A St Francis de Sales' roundup of events!

EAO: 24th January 2008 -- The 24th January, Feast of St Francis de Sales, is such an important day in Salesian circles and in the EAO Region, therefore, that rather many reports of various activities have come in and it would be difficult to do full justice to them all, so at least let's gather a few of these particular to the day itself and note them:
KOR: Daejeon Novitiate House - the first profession of 9 novices.  The event took place on 24th January at a Mass celebrated by Fr Paul Hwang, the provincial, along with the novice master Fr Stefano Yang and a former novice master Fr Robert Falk. You should be able to find photos of this event shortly on the KOR page of sdb.org
THA-Cambodia: two separate sets of events, one in Phnom Penh the other in Sihanoukville: in the former, a return to the original house in Tuol Kork, setting it up as a centre for the Don Bosco Children Fund activities. The SDB House was solemnly blessed by the Bishop of Phnom Penh, Emile Destombes. Four members were also inducted into the Salesian Cooperators Association.  In Sihanoukville, the school chapel was dedicated to St Francis de Sales, and another three Salesian Cooperators began their journey, two of them Cambodians, the third a Colombian volunteer.  Photos of this event should also be available, and enough details are on hand to warrant a later, longer description of these developments.
AUL: Some 50 confreres gathered at the Provincial House and heard an explanation of the first stage of the Province's Strategic Planning. This was followed by a meal for all.  The event comes just before the celebration of Australia Day on 26th January, making this last week (when all schools also resume for the 2008 scholastic year) quite some week! 31st January will see first professions (in Fiji) and the beginning of the new novitiate year.
ITM: In Indonesia, the Social Communications team is planning a visit to the local TV station to enhance communications concepts amongst the post-novitiate, pre-novitiate and aspirantate group.  The visit is to take place on 25th January - we should receive more information about this one shortly.
There will be other events around the region, for sure, but these are the ones that came in today, so they are the ones that receive immediate prominence.
