Making Know Don Bosco through the drama
Lawaan Talisay City, the Philippines, 15 August 2015 -- In celebration of the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, the Community of the Don Bosco Formation Center – Lawaan filled the day honoring Mary from the Solemn morning praise, a midday celebration of the Eucharist for the whole institution and crowned Mary’s day with an evening presentation of a musical concert dubbed as Write your Story, (the title was lifted from the Christian pop anthem of the same name by singer-song writer Francesca Battistelli) and adapted by the senior aspirants under the supervision of Bro. Luke Mololoy-on SDB.
In an unusual and unique way, the annual ‘academy’ (in Salesian parlance) presented four different lives with just their minds speaking out loud. This was inspired by the Bible passage - Mary pondered everything in her heart (Luke 2:19 and Luke 2:51).
The story portrayed how a priest, a seminarian, a family man and a teenager found inspiration in Mary as they struggled to make senses the different challenges they were facing. It showed how Mary continues to be everyone’s model of virtues (especially faith, hope and love) which can lead those who believe to Heaven. More importantly, everyone can be channels of God’s love and mercy to others through her example.
A multi-genre array of carefully selected songs introduced by narratives rendered by the aspirants against an improvised digital backdrop was very well received by the audience.
