Hong Kong, China, 3 February 2023 -- As Covid prevention measures loosen, young people who join the monthly Salesian Vocation Camp were able to have a Lunar New Year Gathering in person on the fifth day of the Chinese New Year in the Year of the Rabbit, 26 January 2023. Around 30 young people from the Salesian schools and parishes get together in the Salesian House of Studies to share the joyful spirit of Don Bosco with priest in the community.
The gathering started with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by the CIN Vocation Animation Confrere In-charge, Fr. Carlos Cheung. In the homily, he shared the meaning of vocation and encouraged the young to bring the Peace of Lord back to their schools and families. Under the tense situation around the world, the relationship between people is full of tension and apathy. As Christians, we have the responsibility to promote the message of peace and put our effort on building a world with peace together. This is also a way to resrespond the calling of God. Fr. Carlos also invited the participants to pray for their own vocation and reminded them actively participate in other Salesian Vocation activities in order to discern their own vocation.
After the Holy Mass, young people have lunch together with the Salesians, and received red pockets from Fr. Carlos, as an encouragement and blessing to them, hoping that they will grow spiritually, intellectually, and physically.
This year is the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Salesian House of Studies, young people were invited to see the exhibition to know more about the history of the formation house.
Last but not least, a football match. Young people and Salesians were split into two teams and resulted in a tie. At the end of the match, the Provincial, Fr Joseph Ng Chi Yuen, surprisingly showed up to greet the young people and distributed red pockets to the participants. The vocation gathering ended in a sound of joy.
