Myanmar missionary in South Sudan
Each Sunday you can read a brief, simple and heart-touching sharing on Fr Francisco's FB page, the result of witnessing to the strong faith of the South Sudanese multi-cultural Catholic community. Here are some examples:
Theresa Nyadeng is one of the South Sudanese who came from Darfur where she was baptised. She said, "There is no difference between the church here and there in Darfur. The Church is the same (one), here or America." How many Christians realise we belong to one Church? Where you belong is where your identity is. O Blessed Trinity, make us manifest your nature in our lives.
Mother Ayak said, "We did not used to pray like this in the past. Instead, we worshipped idols, the things connected to our forefathers." If the way we used to sacrifice has changed, how about our faith?
Achien welcomed us to her house today. As a mother of many children, and like Martha, she's too busy in taking care of them. God's love is manifested more in the life of a mother. Let's pray for her that she may receive baptism just as her children are baptised in the Church.
Maria Nyinbol is a member of the Legion of Mary, who lives her life in a 'charismatic' way, having journeyed from Egypt to South Sudan. She has a personal prayer room (house) at home. Every evening she gathers a group of children to pray with her. Jesus said, "By this, my Father is glorified that you bear much fruit and become my disciples." (Jn 15:8)
Theresa Aguek is one of the South Sudanese who returned to the South after the separation from Sudan. She said, "If your country is not good, what can you do? Do what you can to live." In fact, it is a challenge for us all who are in the country. We must build that we may live where we have built. None of us wants to live a ready-made life for it surely touches our dignity as humans. As a young nation, we have an opportunity to begin a new life here! - May God bless South Sudan!"
This month we remember the 150th issue of 'Cagliero11' that started with a simple idea to make the life story and motivations of Salesian missionaries worldwide available. Since 2009 many things have changed and now a large number of young and not so young missionaries regularly share on social media with their friends and people in their home countries.
Our hope is that this simple Facebook sharing of Fr Francisco will inspire other missionaries to start or continue their sharing and ignite the missionary flame of many other Salesian Youth.
