SALINDO sees the light of day

JAKARTA: 27th March 2009 -- The Feast of the Annunciation was an occasion to announce the publication of SALINDO, a magazine intended to be a biannual magazine in Bahasa Indonesia to make Don Bosco known throughout the archipelago, and also to seek help from subscribers to support the Salesian work in Indonesia. It has 62 pages, writes of St John Bosco  and many other topics one would find in the Salesian Bulletin, but it is not, at least not for now, the Salesian Bulletin. This magazine has several pages of advertisements as well.
Those behind the publication are the Salesian Cooperators and Friends of Don Bosco who, together with the Salesians in Sunter, are looking for ways to involve more collaborators and benefactors in the celebration of the Salesians' 150th anniversary, and also recalling the 25 years of Salesians in Indonesia.
Now that this fund-raising first edition is off the press, the next two targets are indeed a Salesian Bulletin and a province website.
The recently concluded meeting of Social Communications delegates in Seoul marvelled at the range of initiatives in communications ventures being tackled in the region, in some cases in provinces or circumscriptions with just a few years behind them. Very often this is being achieved with the help of competent lay people and other members of the Salesian Family. The Japanese Salesian Bulletin, which only recently came into existence, is largely due to the efforts of the Salesian Cooperators.  Now it looks like ITM is following this lead also to good effect.
