RMG -- Last March 1 the Missions Sector has published the booklet 'Il Primo Annuncio Oggi' (Initial Proclamation Today) by Fr. Alfred Maravilla which is the fruit of the Study Days organised by the SDB and FMA Missions Sector from 2010-2015. The Study Days in our EAO region were held in Sampran (August 14-18, 2011 for East Asia) and in Port Moresby (August 21-25, 2011 for Oceania). The Portuguese and Spanish translations are now in the press while work on the English and French translations are ongoing.
The booklet presents the relevance of initial proclamation in the Salesian mission today. Sr. Marianela Fernández, who translated the text in Spanish considers it as "a truly rich document. A marvellous synthesis with very clear principles". Fr. Martín Lasarte of the missions department defines this book as "a spark that transforms!"
Fr. Guillermo Basañes and Sr. Alaide Deretti (SDB and FMA Councillors for Missions) define the book as 'a gift' with the central purpose: to stir up in every FMA and SDB an increased awareness and greater missionary commitment. Hence they emphasized that the fundamental and indispensable way is study and personal reflection: "this is not a text only to read: it is to be studied, to be used as a platform for further research and insights".
