News from Malasia - Kuching
Kuching, Malasia, 14 March 2017 -- The FIDES (www.fides.org - news agency of the Congregation for the Evangelization of the Peoples) reported that "On 4 March 2017 the Holy Father accepted the resignation from the pastoral governance of the Archdiocese of Kuching (Malaysia), presented by His Exc. Mgr. John Ha Tiong Hock. The Holy Father appointed His Exc. Mgr. Simon Poh Hoon Seng, titular Bishop of Sfasferia and Auxiliary of the same archdiocese as Archbishop of Kuching."
The province of the Philippines North (FIN) sent recently the first two confreres of Malaysia mission - Frs. Ramon Borja and Andre Belo - for another exploration trip to Kuching last February: "We spent a wonderful time with the local Church and her Pastors, visited again many places in Sarawak State - Kuching Archdiocese. We thrown many medals of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco in the place of future of Technical Vocation School in Samarahan, Sarawak State (15 acres campus) close to the city of Kuching, we earnestly prayed for a good start of this mission".
In the meantime the FIN Salesians gave thanks to the former Archbishop John HA for his great support during past two years of the exploration and project period. The archibishop designate Simon Poh who will officialy take over the archdiocese on March 20, is already in touch with the FIN Salesians: "Thank you for your wishes. I humbly ask for your prayers as I take on this new responsibility... Be assured of our common vision for the setting up of a Vocation School."
All EAO confreres are requested to accompany this new mission with their prayers. We are still looking forward for one or two Salesians who would make complete the first Kuching community hopefully during this year of 2017.
