Salesian Family Spirituality Days DVD doing the rounds

ROME: 11th March 2007 -- The Salesian Family, under Fr Adrian Bregolin, but with the direct organisation of his team headed up by Fr Julio Olarte, has just released a DVD of the Salesian Family Spirituality Days held in Rome last January.  This event has only been taken up again in most recent times - it used be a stalwart of the annual calendar, then fell into disuse for a period.  The Rector Major, who is most insistent that the Salesian Family go back to Don Bosco's notion of a real 'movement' with a charismatic and apostolic face, has been a strong supporter of these days and their effect.
They are, in fact, quite extraordinary days.  Last year those who attended were privileged to hear the nigh-on centenarian reflections of the daughter of a couple beatified a few years back by John Paul II, she, a member of one of the groups of the Salesian Family - and one had the sense that this woman was herself treading those paths of holiness.  This year the participants heard from Nino Baglieri, a member of the Volunteers With Don Bosco (CDB), and not just seeing him bound to his bed of suffering but hearing him speak of his entire life and conversion, was a similar experience.  A few weeks later Nino was in the arms of the Lord whom he so profoundly witnessed to in word and deed.  The Bishop of his local diocese who conducted the Requiem made it clear that he was celebrating something that would lead to Nino's Beatification, not simply a funeral.
The DVD, which will arrive in Salesian communities around the world, so our information goes, has a cover in Spanish - but that's simply a choice.  In fact the DVD contains all its materials in seven languages, so don't be put off by the cover!  In it you have access to a sense of how these days proceed, interviews with appropriate voice-overs, and other documentary materials.  You may always then go to www.sdb.org to download materials in English relevant to the event - one suggestion is Nino Baglieri's testimony.  There is little doubt, if his bishop has anything to do with it (and, funnily enough, bishops do seem to have something to do with these things!) that we will be hearing more of Nino's evident holiness.
The 2008 Salesian Spirituality Days will be held in Rome-Pisana January next (17-20). Enrolments will be available from 1st November this year on sdb.org.  There is always a representation from EAO.  Give it some thought.  There was an idea of holding the next one in Spain, due to preparations in Rome for GC26, to begin a few weeks later, but the decision has been made to keep it in Rome and at the Pisana.
