Creating the 'vast movement' in 3 easy steps

RECIFE (Brazil): 12th October 2008--Recife might be a little out of our area geographically speaking, but the topic of today's news is not. Both in the light of GC26 and the coming 2009 Strenna which reminds us that "Don Bosco inspired the start of a vast movement of persons" (C. 5 of our Rule of Life) and asks us to take that on further, the blog of the Salesian Youth Movement in Brazil's north-east (Recife) province is enlightening.
Despite the fact that everything is in Portuguese, don't let that put you off.  Trundle off to http://www.ajsnordeste.blogspot.com/ and take a look, for starters.  What you will note is that with three easy steps (get a gmail account free, sign in on the blogger page, create one with a click) the AJS (Portuguese version of the SYM) have effectively created a pleasing web page that does everything from talk about what they are up to, to explaining who they are, showing they are backed by their province, and linking to ANS in Rome.
More to the point - and here a little Portuguese helps - they explain that even their very name, Articulação da Juventude Salesiana (AJS) effectively means a networking, a wide movement of young people identified with the Salesian spirit and seeking to live it out. They explain that it is a conjoint effort of the Salesians of Don Bosco, the Salesian Sisters, the entire Salesian Family.  This 'vast movement' approach, they explain, has been in operation for ten years nationally and just a little longer in the North-east. Anyway, it's party time there - well away from the more notorious party time further south - and they are suggesting we might all like to follow it.
Given the consummate ease with which one can open and maintain such a blog, and given its immediate usefulness for tying together a vast movement of people, it seems to suggest some possibilities for us at regional level? Thoughts on this could be shared via the 'comment' link below. Getting a gmail address is simple enough and if you are still struggling to work out how after an hour or so send me an email and I'll send you one!
