ORMA 2004 – ITALIAN VOLUNTEER GROUP RETURN
  Fr. Ambrose Pereira sdb,

HONIARA 6th December '04 -- 15 Volunteers belonging to ORMA, a group from Sondrio, Italy, arrived in Honiara on 30th  December, 2003, to assist Don Bosco as it moves into its next phase of development for the people and youth of Solomon Islands.

The dynamic and energetic group is led by Giovanni Crupi , and comprises 4 women and 11 men.  Among the volunteers are engineers, masons, carpenters, electricians, welders, and fitters - all filled with zeal and dedication to spend the next two months working together with the people of Solomon Islands.  Their task this year is the Salesian Residence and Carpentry Workshop at Tetere.

“I believe that the youth and people of Solomon Islands need support systems to grow and put their talents to use.  We are happy to pool together our resources and share them,” said a smiling GiovanniCrupi , who has come to Solomon Islands for the third time.

Fr. Luciano Capelli sdb, Rector and Principal of Don Bosco Technical Institute, has been organizing and planning the work and activity with his Italian friends and the Chairman and community of the people of Tetere.  Discussions and planning of how to best enhance persons, have spanned the past several months, following the drawing up of the Educational Pastoral Plan by Christ the King parish, Tetere.  “It is important that people realize their needs, plan and work together for their growth and development.  It is wonderful to have this group infuse energy and give possibilities to our people.  Movement, work and activity is a sign that the Spirit is alive and active”, said Fr. Capelli.  To assist with preparations and planning arrangements, Eneresto Agnelli  and Alba Quadrio  arrived several weeks ahead of the others.

The youth and the people of Sali village gave an enjoyable traditional welcome to the visitors at the Don Bosco Multi purpose hall, Henderson – a project of ORMA 2003.
