Korea and Vietnam 'on the move'.

ROME: 29th July 2008 -- The new provincial of Korea Province, Fr Stephen Nam, has arrived in Rome with a group of six confrères from Korea Province. They are brothers and priests who have ten years of final profession.  On this occasion they are joined by two students studying at the UPS and Bro Hilario Seo, webmaster for sdb.org.  Hilario is showing them important sites in Rome, including the Catcaombs of St Callistus. They leave tomorrow for Piedmont where they will visit the various places of the origin of the Salesian Congregation, before returning to Rome and spening several days at the UPS.
Meanwhile, just as Fr Andrew Wong, Regional for EAO arrives in Vietnam, a good number of young confrères from there are on the move, highlighting the contribution being made to various missionary ventures from this country.  Two are leaving for the Southern Philippines Province (FIS) to commence their practical training. A third is going to Parañaque (FIN) to improve his English after which he will go to Cambodia as a missionary. Three more are coming to Rome to learn Italian.  Then they will join the Middle East Province (MOR). A further two are coming to Rome for their practical training in the newly established Central Circumscription (ICC).
Both Korea and Vietnam have sent many missionaries to various parts of the Salesian world in recent years, including Europe. Interestingly enough, Fr Nam is a fluent German speaker, having studied in that country.
