Japan province launches Salesian Bulletin

TOKYO: 2nd June 2008 --  Japan becomes the latest addition to the list of worldwide editions of the Salesian Bulletin with the May appearance of No. 1 under that name. The Province has for many years published another magazine on Catholic Life but it was never the Salesian Bulletin as such.
The newest Salesian Bulletin is a full-cover glossy edition of 20 pages plus cover pages - no space is wasted.  It is in Japanese, obviously, with a tiny hint of Italian (the title and edition number is repeated as Bollettino Salesiano Maggio 2008) and English - a recurring small banner which says 'We are SALESIAN FAMILY'.  Also the back page (front page for non-Japanese readers!) features the Strenna message in English as well as Japanese.  The edition features the by now familiar rubrics for Salesian Bulletins around the world, with broad appeal to the Salesian Family and its groups, and with due appeal also to local features of Salesian activity in or based on the Japan Province - for example a feature article on the Don Bosco Volunteer Group (DBVG) which has mounted campaigns in the PNG-SI Delegation.
The Rector Major has written a letter of congratulations, published on the first page. This is followed by a second letter from the Provincial, Fr Puppo.
The effort has been in the planning stage now for several years.
