Hsipaw City, Northern Shan State, Myanmar, 2 February 2022 -- On January 31, 2022, as we celebrated the feast day of our founder, St John Bosco, we also have had an opportunity to rejoice over the Silver Jubilee of St. John Bosco Parish Church, and a reason to give thanks to the Good Lord for showering His countless blessings on the parish for the 25 years. The Parish was named after St John Bosco and entrusted to Salesian Pastoral care since 1997. It is located in the centre of Hsipaw city, Lashio Diocese, Northern Shan State, Myanmar.

The celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by His grace, Bishop DAU ZE Lucas, SDB, the bishop of Lashio Diocese, began at 8:30 in the morning. The bishop encouraged his flocks to grow in different aspects, and to make St. John Bosco parish an exemplary in the diocese, since they enjoy more opportunities than others, i.e, having many Salesians among themselves.

Due to the political crisis of the country, only 12 Salesians, 2 diocesan priests, 13 aspirants, a few female religious from different congregations, and some 200 parishioners could take part in the ceremony. The parish priest, Fr. Hanry Dau Hawng, SDB also thanked all benefactors and participants at the end of the Mass. After that, a variety of cultural dances was proudly presented by the parish youth in the hall of St. John Bosco Seminary. Lunch was also served to all comers.

All Salesians together with their parishioners enjoyed and gave thanks to God for the blessings of 25 years. And we do believe that they will continuously strive to grow together with the spirit of Don Bosco.
