Growing in communion

By Our Own Correspondent

EAO, 8 January 2018 -- The most common point of our EAO region is its great diversity! It sounds like a joke, but it is part of our regional identity. During the recent EAO rectors formation seminar in Hong Kong, November 2018, the EAO power point presentation was once more shared, with some statistics, achievements and challenges of our region. Thanks to the rectors, this is now available on Boscolink.

Communion among our EAO provinces is growing through the exchange and sharing of confreres, experiences, funds and also through networking. Every province or delegation has something to offer or can be enriched by the other provinces or delegation. However the most important sharing is based on prayer.

Almost five years ago the first edition of the regional prayer card was released (July 2014) with a simple request: "Please, accept today a simple invitation to pray one Hail Mary each day for confreres in the other EAO countries! Each one is my brother!" Since then, 20,000 prayer cards have been distributed among EAO Salesians, Salesian Family members and our lay mission partners.

A few days ago, the EAO Prayer Card was reprinted as a Christmas gift, including, on the 25th of the month: EAO New Frontiers (Malaysia and Vanuatu). Although the first SDB community in Malaysia was already established last year, the new Salesian presence in Vanuatu (Melanesia - Oceania) still remains a dream for the PGS Vice-province of Blessed Philip Rinaldi.

Just one Haily Mary every day for our regional intentions! The printed version of the new EAO Prayer Card will reach you through your respective provincial offices soon.
