Hua Hin, Thailand, 6 May 2024 -- The Salesian Family Commission on Catechetics, under the leadership of Fr Andrew Ekasit Talhakultorn, the coordinator, organized an annual seminar with the theme "Catechesis: the “Franz-Kett Pedagogy” presented by Sr.Ohsong Kwon, the Directress of the Institute of Kett-Pedagogy in Korea, Sr. Hwa Ja Kim, Sr. Juran Han and Miss Naeun Kim (translator), at the Salesian Retreat House, Hua Hin.

The seminar was divided into two batches. The first was held from 30 April - 1 May 2024, with 41 participants. The second batch was held from 3-4 May 2024, with 42 participants.

The seminar facilitators introduced a catechetical methodology that uses body language, words, and pictures, emphasizing personal relationships and joyful participation in the various activities. This method makes the students to absorb the catechetical knowledge and the atmosphere of love in the group. Overall, this seminar rekindled the passion for teaching and learning new catechetical methods among the seminar participants.

The seminar went well and received cooperation from all parties. The Salesian Family Commission on Catechetics was established in August 2018, consisting of the Salesians, FMA, SIHM, DQM, SQM, ASC, VDB, and Past Pupils. with the aim of jointly developing the catechetical work and moving forward together. There is a committee meeting twice a year to plan the activities together, including the holding of a joint seminar once a year.
